"NO! NO NO NO NO, NOT THERE!"

I'm exercising some real tolerance, y'all.

This damned cat is cute, and all, but she likes my door frames. She likes them so much that she wants to stretch against them and scratch them.

Fortunately for us her nails are clipped too short to do any damage.

Fortunately for her she has a super-tall scratching post to do her business on.

Unfortunately for her, if she doesn't get WISE to the scratching post, she'll be facing the wrath of my brand new $0.99 water gun.

Y'all better tell her something.

Welcome to cat parenthood. Tex doesn't do that because Tex is not equiped any longer for that. He sharpens his non claws on stuff though. Anyway, McDonalds current happy meals are these cat figures, one of them looks just like your kitty.

Best put some catnippy goodness on that scratchin' post. I use some catnip-scented spray on the post (just a bit, or you'll have an incoherent drooling cat on your rug) and a bouncy catnip-filled toy mounted on top. Between the two, it keeps the fuzzmonsters interested in the post, and not the furniture. They also like cardboard boxes, for some reason. Flattened out for laying on, or put together for hiding in, they just can't get enough.

The thought of cat scratches on the wood wouldn't hurt so much if I didn't remember images of you painting/staining same. ;)

What about the furniture? My cat shredded the back/corner of our love seat before we had his front paws declawed.

Cats detest aluminum foil. Use masking tape to tape some foil over the areas that she likes and it will deter her from doing it. We burn wood so our cat has her own log to destroy - you might try giving your cat a log to scratch. Good luck!

Here's a tip. Cats NEVER use any toy, or equipment that you buy to entertain them, JUST to be difficult. They live for turning their little kitty noses up at the coolest kitty condo, the snuggliest kitty bed or fun looking toy. However, leave a drawer open or a cardboard box within their reach or a milk jug closure or a balled up piece of paper or God forbid your knitting(!) and she'll go to town.

softpaws.com I use it for my cat. It's great. You can pick some up at Petsmart sometimes.
